For Editors
The Journal of Teaching and Learning Studies (JTLS) is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and ethical editorial process. The journal adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally accepted standards of scholarly publishing.
Editorial Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief has overall responsibility for the journal's editorial quality and makes the final decision on all submitted manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, including originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.
Section Editors assist the Editor-in-Chief by managing manuscripts within their areas of expertise. Their responsibilities include conducting an initial assessment, selecting appropriate reviewers, overseeing the peer review process, and providing recommendations for editorial decisions.
Editorial Assessment
Before peer review, all submissions are screened to determine whether they:
- Fit the aims and scope of the journal;
- Meet submission and ethical requirements;
- Demonstrate sufficient scholarly quality;
- Are suitable for external peer review.
Manuscripts that do not satisfy these criteria may be rejected without external review.
Editorial Independence
The editorial process is conducted independently of the publisher or any external influence. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scientific quality and ethical considerations.
Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest
Editors treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential and do not disclose manuscript information to anyone outside the editorial and peer review process.
Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have personal, professional, institutional, or financial conflicts of interest.
Publication Ethics
The editorial team takes appropriate action when concerns arise regarding plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, authorship disputes, ethical approval, or other forms of publication misconduct. Such cases are handled in accordance with COPE guidance and may result in rejection, correction, or retraction where appropriate.
