Publication Ethics

The Journal of Teaching and Learning Studies (JTLS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and internationally accepted standards of scholarly publishing.

All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher, are expected to adhere to these ethical principles.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to JTLS confirm that:

  • The submitted work is original and has not been published previously.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
  • All authors have made significant scholarly contributions to the study and have approved the submitted version.
  • All sources, data, figures, and ideas derived from other works are properly cited and acknowledged.
  • Any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest are fully disclosed.
  • Research involving human participants or animals has received appropriate ethical approval where required.
  • Data have been collected, analyzed, and reported honestly and accurately.
  • Any significant errors identified after submission or publication will be promptly reported to the editorial office.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and originality of their work.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Evaluate manuscripts fairly, objectively, and solely on their scholarly merit.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscript materials.
  • Provide constructive, evidence based, and professional feedback.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment.
  • Decline review invitations when they lack the necessary expertise or cannot complete the review within the requested timeframe.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, unethical research practices, or other concerns regarding research integrity.
  • Refrain from using unpublished information obtained during the review process for personal or professional advantage.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions based solely on scholarly merit, originality, significance, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Ensuring a fair, impartial, and confidential peer review process.
  • Maintaining editorial independence and integrity.
  • Preventing discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics.
  • Addressing allegations of misconduct, plagiarism, duplicate publication, authorship disputes, and ethical violations.
  • Managing conflicts of interest transparently and appropriately.
  • Protecting the confidentiality of authors, reviewers, and submitted manuscripts.

Research Misconduct

JTLS does not tolerate any form of publication misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Self plagiarism
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Simultaneous submission
  • Citation manipulation
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Improper authorship practices

Allegations of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines and may result in rejection, correction, retraction, or other appropriate actions.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer review process.

Manuscripts found to contain substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, or inappropriate text recycling may be rejected without external review.

Authors are encouraged to verify the originality of their manuscripts before submission.

Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and may not disclose or use unpublished information obtained through the editorial process without appropriate authorization.

Open Access Policy

JTLS is a fully open access journal. All published content is freely available immediately upon publication without subscription or access fees.

The journal supports the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes unrestricted access to scholarly research and encourages the global exchange of knowledge.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their published work.

Articles published in JTLS are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY NC ND 4.0).

Under this license, users may read, download, copy, distribute, and share the published material for non commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source. The material may not be modified or adapted without permission from the copyright holder.
